Ondo Govt Begins Statewide Pensioners’ Verification Exercise for 2016–2025

The Ondo State Pension Transitional Arrangement Department has announced a comprehensive verification exercise for pensioners who retired between 2016 and 2025.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the department’s Permanent Secretary, Chief Bunmi Alade, the exercise aims to ensure accurate pension records, eliminate ghost pensioners, and enable seamless payment of pensions and gratuities.

“All affected pensioners are expected to present themselves at the designated verification centres with the following documents: letter of retirement approval, payment voucher, Bank Verification Number (BVN), and pensioner ID card or any valid means of identification,” Alade said.

For deceased pensioners, their next-of-kin or representatives must present a Letter of Administration and an Affidavit of Next-of-Kin.

Verification Schedule:

  • Sept. 2–3: Ilaje, Okitipupa, Irele, Ese-Odo, and Odigbo LGAs
  • Sept. 4–5: Ondo West, Ondo East, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo LGAs
  • Sept. 8–9: Akoko North-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-East, Akoko South-West LGAs
  • Sept. 10–11: Owo and Ose LGAs
  • Sept. 12: Ifedore and Idanre LGAs
  • Sept. 15–16: Akure North and Akure South LGAs

The verification will take place at local government secretariats or any alternative venue agreed upon by the local branch of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners.

Pensioners are required to appear in person, as proxies will not be allowed.

Chief Alade reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its senior citizens and encouraged full cooperation from all stakeholders.
