The Federal Government has approved a policy granting lifetime salary benefits to retiring senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, effective from the rank of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, or Commandant-General and above.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat held on Thursday. The policy, aimed at boosting officer welfare, was graciously approved by President Bola Tinubu, according to a statement signed by DCF P.O. Abraham, Head of Corporate Services at the Federal Fire Service.
“In recognition of the welfare of senior officers, the minister announced that any officer retiring from the rank of Deputy Controller/Comptroller/Commandant-General will now receive lifetime salary benefits,” the statement said.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo thanked President Tinubu for his unwavering support, noting that the reforms are aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda and are already yielding tangible benefits across the ministry’s agencies.
