The General Hospital, Badagry, has announced a significant milestone in maternal healthcare, reporting zero maternal deaths at its Mother and Child Care Centre between May and July 2025.
The achievement was disclosed on Friday via the official social media channels of the Lagos State Government.
Dr. Akinwunmi Akinyemi, Director of Clinical Services and Training and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, presented the update to the hospital’s management. He attributed the success to the dedicated efforts of both clinical and non-clinical staff.
“It is with utmost pleasure and gratitude to God that I inform you that there has been no mortality for the past three months,” Dr. Akinyemi said. “This could only have been possible through the relentless efforts of everyone in the department, alongside the support of nurses, lab staff, pharmacists, records, and other support staff.”
